If you equate long drives, crisp approach shots, and well-read putts with time away from the office — or if the greens and fairways are where you prefer to do business — Greater St. Louis is a hole-in-one.
With more than 100 public courses within a few hours’ drive, St. Louis is a golfer’s playground. The area boasts courses designed by legends like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Hale Irwin. Greens fees typically fit proportionately into the area’s cost of living, so you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to enjoy a few rounds on a beautifully designed course.
Founded in 1901, Glen Echo, is the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi. The Club hosted the 1904 Olympic Gold Medal Match, making it one of only a handful to have done so.
Some of the area’s finest courses are near the Lake of the Ozarks, just a few hours away from downtown St. Louis. And the region’s four distinct seasons provide St. Louisans with varying phases of excellent golf weather in some remarkable natural settings during much of the year.
