The following is a sampling of businesses that have established locations or expanded operations already based in the St. Louis area in 2007.
American Family Insurance - American Family Insurance has located a 200 person regional operations center in Creve Coeur, MO in January 2007. The total investment for this project tops $4.6 million and employees will earn an average wage of $39,700.
Laird Technologies - Laird Technologies has announced the consolidation of their national customer service functions in Chesterfield, MO. The project creates 34 new jobs with an average annual salary of $82,000. Project investment is estimated to be $5.16 million.
Jambo Kenya Coffee and Tea International - Jambo Kenya Coffee and Tea has selected a 12,000-square-foot building in the City of St. Louis as the location of its new roasting, packaging, and distribution facility of specialty coffees. The company plans to create nine new jobs at an average wage of $31,200 per year and total capital investment is $1.1 million.
Central Transport International Inc. - Central Transport International has expanded their current facility in the City of St. Louis creating 115 jobs. The company will invest approximately $150,000 in its facility and the average wage for the new jobs is projected to exceed the State average of $36,400 per year.
AT&T Yellow Pages- AT&T announced it has selected St. Louis for its Yellow Pages national corporate headquarters, retaining 655 jobs downtown and adding 100 jobs at a sales center in Olivette. The project brings a $1.6 million investment to the city, with an average annual salary of $40,000. This project location was decided in April 2007 after AT&T announced the merger with BellSouth earlier in the year.
Gateway Terminals, LLC - Gateway Terminals LLC, a partnership of Eagle Marine Industries and SCF Marine (Seacor Holdings) announced its plans to build a 480,000 barrel ethanol distribution terminal in Sauget, IL. Total project investment is estimated at $12.5 million and 14 new jobs will be created.
Visteon Corporation – Michigan-based Visteon Corp. has selected a site in Eureka Commerce Park in Eureka, MO for a new operation to support the Chrysler Group's assembly complex. Visteon will supply interiors for the new, upgraded Dodge truck. The 217,000-square-foot facility will employ 200.
Aircraft Welding & Manufacturing – Aircraft Welding & Manufacturing Company has selected the St. Louis region to provide specialty welding services to the area aircraft/aerospace industry and other high technology product manufacturers. The St. Louis operation will be known as Aircraft Welding of St. Louis and will create 10 new jobs with an average annual salary of $42,000.
Ionatron, Inc. – Ionatron has located a new R&D facility for a high-tech company focused on laser applications for weaponry and national defense. The company will located a 25,000-square-foot R&D operation in Earth City, creating 20 new jobs with an average salary of $90,000.
GKN Aerospace – GKN Aerospace executives announced they are working on a number of projects aimed at enhancing jobs and investment at the Hazelwood, MO facility. The first of those projects has been completed. Due to successful contract awarded from Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky, GKN plans to add 120 new jobs and invest $15 million in its Hazelwood operation.
MasterCard Worldwide – MasterCard Worldwide recently signed a sublease to accommodate additional growth in its global technology operations. The company announced that it will also continue to expand at its main technology campus. Total job creation for the two sites will be 200 with a $60,000 average annual salary.
GSI Commerce – GSI Commerce has announced it will provide Hershey’s with e-commerce and order processing, personalization and fulfillment of chocolate gifts and customer care support for web, catalog and business consumers. The new operation will occupy nearly one-third of the 900,000-square-foot Hershey’s distribution center at the Gateway Commerce Center in Madison County, IL and will create 300 new jobs and 170 seasonal jobs.
KACE Logistics – KACE Logistics announced that it has leased 30,000 square feet of distribution space in Fenton to support sequencing of parts for the Michigan-based Hi-Lex Corp. Total job creation is 17 with an annual average salary of $26,233. New investment is $1.76 million.
Pfizer – In August, Pfizer broke ground on a $50 million expansion that will double the size of its biologics pilot-plant facilities in Chesterfield, MO. The investment is in addition to a $200 million research building scheduled for completion in 2008 and will create 35 jobs.
Centene – In September, Centene Corporation announced it will locate its new headquarters in Ballpark Village in downtown St. Louis. Phase I of the project will include a $250 million headquarters complex, street-level retail, and 1,450 parking spaces. This project will create 1,000 new jobs and represents the largest corporate commitment to the City of St. Louis in over 50 years.
Steel Warehouse Co. – Steel Warehouse Co. agreed to lease 152,000 square feet from the St. Louis Port Authority along the city’s waterfront for a steel processing operation. The new operation will employ 100 with a starting annual average wage of $41,600.
Oakley Industries – Oakley Industries, a leading prototype and tooling firm, has selected a 117,600-square-foot building located in Green Park, St. Louis County to serve the Chrysler North plant in Fenton. Oakley will supply wheels and axles for the Dodge Ram truck. The company plans to hire 53 over the next year and capital investment is $21.5 million.
Fairfield Processing Corporation – Fairfield Processing Corporation announced in November that it will be relocating its distribution center from Utah to Granite City, IL. The company leased 130,000 square feet in the Tri-City Port District. Total investment will be about $3.2 million.
Decoma International – Decoma International, a subsidiary of the Canadian auto components supplier Magna, leased 100,000 square feet in Dupo, IL to supply front-end modules for Chrysler's Dodge Ram truck. The company will create 80 jobs and will generate $8 million in new investment.
Matrix Packaging – Sonoco’s Matrix Packaging announced it will open a new rigid plastic container plant in Hazelwood, MO to serve as a container producer for Proctor & Gamble. The 150,000-square-foot facility expects to begin operation in the first quarter of 2008, creating $14.9 million in new investment and initially employing 75.
