Regional and County Profiles

Source: 2009 demographic data from Tactician.

Consisting of 16 counties that are collectively home to more than 2.8 million people, the St. Louis area sits squarely in the Central time zone. It spans both sides of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, with a footprint that extends into both Missouri and Illinois.

The area has access to growing populations in both states and offers a uniquely cosmopolitan and comfortable business environment with a broadly skilled and highly productive work force.

In addition to offering access to a population with an extensive range of skill sets and educational backgrounds, each county also affords St. Louis area residents excellent access to its valuable cultural and recreational assets. Because of the close proximity of these locations and the effectiveness of the area’s transportation infrastructure, many St. Louisans regularly take advantage of these resources, which help make living here such a uniquely enjoyable experience. Attendance at not only St. Louis Cardinals baseball games but also at the Saint Louis Art Museum is among the highest per capita in the country.
